Oelhaf House Special Offering – Sunday July 16

Oelhaf House is a shelter for women and their children who are survivors of domestic violence. It is located in Leonia. Oelhaf House is one of five transitional housing programs in Bergen County operated by The Center for Hope and Safety, a non-profit organization that helps women leave emergency shelter and live with their children as they rebuild their lives. Residents participate in supportive programming that helps build self-sufficiency through job training, counseling services, legal advocacy, and financial stability. The programming for residents of Oelhaf House is paid for through The Center for Hope and Safety.

(You may even get crazy and bring a favorite outdoor game!) Invite your friends and neighbors to come! This is a great opportunity to spend quality time with your friends, neighbors and family, and introduce them in a non-threatening way to our Leonia Church family!

Thank You for Helping at Our Flea Market

Thank You for Helping at Our Flea Market

Leonia Church held a Summer Flea Market outdoors on the church lawn this past Saturday, June 17th.  Church members sold various items such as CD’s, electronics, tools, housewares, toys, books, and other collectibles. There were about 11 outside vendors who participated and sold items as well. Unfortunately the weather deteriorated as the day progressed, and it began to rain mid-afternoon bringing the Flea Market to an early ending at 12:30 p.m. About $950.00 was raised which will be used for church mission projects.

Special thanks to everyone who participated and made the flea market a success!

Ephesians – Wednesday Evening Small Group

Ephesians – Wednesday Evening Small Group

Leader:            David Wehrle
Day/Time:      Wednesdays @ 7:30 p.m.
Place:               The Wehrles’ Home: 346 Sylvan Avenue, Leonia
Date:                9 sessions beginning June 28

Has it ever dawned on you that nothing has ever dawned on God? He knew before the world began that His people would face hardship, so He gave us His Word. The Book of Ephesians is a survival manual—it equips believers to thrive in a world that hates the message of Jesus Christ. Paul the Apostle writes to encourage believers to live well—we’ve been lifted from the graveyard of sin and called to shout the gospel into the darkened world.

Join Leonia Church this summer as we walk through the powerful words of Paul. We’ll dig into the text of Ephesians verse-by-verse and challenge one another to live out the gospel. If the people of your city, of your school, of your family are going to experience the gospel, it’s going to be through you. Encounter Ephesians, and get swept up into the story of Jesus.

Family Promise Outreach Weeks – Sunday, June 18 to Sunday July 2

Family Promise Outreach Weeks – Sunday, June 18 to Sunday July 2

After the disastrous fire at the first Presbyterian Church in Englewood, our congregation stepped forward and offered our space to help their congregation host homeless families. The deal is simple. We provide our space and a few volunteers, and the people at First Presbyterian of Englewood administrate the program and organize the volunteers who feed and stay overnight. As we did last year, we will be helping out again in the last two weeks of June. If you would like to help, we need two volunteers to stay overnight– one volunteer to stay overnight on Sunday, June 25 and the other volunteer to stay overnight on Monday June 26. If you are interested, please contact John Stott at stottj@d-e.org. He will be coordinating things from our end of the program and will also be staying overnight on those two days.
