We Welcome Rev. Emmanuel Agyemfra & Dr. Afia Sun Kim
Rev. Emmanuel serves as Lead Pastor at Leonia United Methodist Church from July 1st, 2024. He transitioned from Browns Mills United Methodist Church, a vital congregation that actively engages its community. Pastor Emmanuel has also served the multicultural congregation at Monmouth Grace UMC. He received his Master of Theology from Yonsei University and MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary. Before moving to Princeton, he served as a missionary pastor in various churches in Ghana and South Korea, including Promises Chapel International, Han-Gil Presbyterian Church, and the Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul. His ministry vision is to be a faithful witness in multicultural faith communities. Emmanuel enjoys vision casting and innovation in ministry. Pastor Emmanuel is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry in Transformational Leadership at Boston University.
Emmanuel is blessed to be married to Sun, a faculty member at the City Seminary of New York. Dr. Afia Sun Kim completed her PhD in Mission Studies at Yonsei University and is working on a PhD in World Christianity at Princeton Theological Seminary. They were raised in missionary homes as “PKs”, (Pastor’s Kids). They both love traveling and doing ministry and mission work together.
Pastor Emmanuel is excited about what God is already doing here in Leonia UMC and looking forward to partnering with all the faithful disciples to see God-size possibilities as we serve the community of Leonia and beyond.
