Student Ministry

The mission of our junior and senior high student ministry is to work with parents to instill passion for Jesus Christ in the hearts of young people. We carry out our mission through a large group/small group format weekly program, through a monthly student outing/activity, through one-on-one mentoring of youth, and through providing resources and small groups for parents.

Here’s What We Are Up To!

Summer Camp Returns!

Next Generation presents GNJ Camping at Pinelands Center at Mt. Misery

GNJ Next Generation Ministries has partnered with Barefoot Republic Camp to offer an innovative multicultural camping experience for middle and high school students for summer camp in 2018.

Since it’s founding in 2000, Barefoot Republic Camp has built Christ-centered unity between campers from diverse racial, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds through a pursuit of common passions and engaging discipleship.

Open to middle school students, everyone will find something that they love. Choose specialty activities from football to dance, swimming to art. Campers make friends for life in daily competitions like dodge ball, messy games, adventure relays and more!

Lead Program

 Do Hard Things!

Ever feel like adults treat you like a baby, have rules that are way too restrictive, or expect far too little from you? We think so too! You can do hard things! You can rebel against low expectations!

That’s why we invite a very small group of special students like you to enter into a mentoring relationship with our church staff. When you become a part of our “Lead” program, we will meet with you one-on-one each month and will work with you to empower you to rebel against low expectations.

Some of the things our mentored youth have done:

  • Lead worship arts at Leonia Church worship on Sundays
  • Install video cameras at the church building
  • Raise hundreds of dollars for hurricane Sandy relief
  • Go on missions in Peru
  • Build houses in Baja, Mexico
  • Tutor older adults in using computers and technology

We also ask students in our Lead program to take a leadership role in our various XP3 programs and in inviting students who are not yet a part of Leonia Church.

This is something that mom and dad can’t sign you up for, so if you think you are ready to do hard things, contact Aiden – our Student Ministry Director.

A Student Center for middle school students.

Every Friday that Leonia Middle School is in session.

From after school until 5 p.m.

  • Hang out with your friends!
  • Play video games!
  • Grab a snack!
  • Play basketball or ping-pong!
  • (maybe get some homework done?)

All supervising adults have received training and have been screened with a third party background check!

More Information for Parents

It is our hope that the Leonia Church building will become a safe and secure place for middle school students to “hang out” once per week. We want our building to be a “THIRD Place” where pre-teens and teens can socialize with one another under adult supervision but away from school and home. Leonia Church wants to be a church that is #forLEONIA. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Aiden (201.429.9610 or Aiden@Leonia.Church) or Pastor Dave (201.972.5279 or
